Hace un año - The only way is Romford

Hace un año exactamente llegué a Inglaterra, me instalé en un pueblecito cercano a Londres, concretamente Romford, ciudad mercal y protagonista de mis primeras aventuras en el territorio inglés. Al principio puede parecer un pueblo aburrido y sin demasiado encanto, pero poco a poco pude descubrir sitios que pueden pasar desapercibidos y sin embargo, son preciosos. Uno de ellos es Raphael Park & Lodge Farm Park. Donde parece que en cualquier momento caerás en la madriguera del conejo y aparecerás en el país de las maravillas. Me gustaba perderme cuando tenía un ratito libre, recuerdo con cariño una caseta que me protegía de la lluvia cuando el tiempo estaba rebelde y paseos geniales con los niños que entonces cuidaba donde alimentábamos animales y jugábamos con cualquier cosa que encontrábamos. 

The other side of St James

Como sabéis, pretendo mostraros otra faceta, por así decirlo, de Londres, para aquellos días donde ya has visto lo típico y simplemente quieres sentirte bien. Todos podemos permitírnoslo de forma gratis disfrutar y regalarle un magnífico paisaje a nuestros ojos.

El parque de St James es una de esas rutas que turistas toman para acudir del parlamento a Buckingham, es rápido y muy agradable. Pero ¿y sí llevamos la contraria a la gente? ¿por qué no vamos por el otro camino?

Eso pensé y eso hice. La verdad es que es una pasada el cambio, parece una tontería, pero está mucho más vacío y la gente es más curiosa, por eso han ido por ese camino :D

As you may know, I am trying to show you the other face of London, for those days when you have already seen the most popular and you just want to feel good. And the best thing is that you can do it for free and you won't regret it.

St James Park is one of the rutes that the tourists take to go from the parliament to Buckingham, it is fast and nice. But, what if we are contrary? why not the other way? That was what I thought and what I did. It's amazing the change, it's nearly empty and the people are more curious, that's way they are on that way. :D

Si en vez de seguir todo recto hacia el palacio, giras a la derecha, lo primero que encontrarás es esta casita tan adorable. Vi que mucha gente se detenía en la valla y la observaba desde ahí. Yo pensé lo siguiente "La puerta está abierta, no hay señal de prohibido pasar, yo entro y si me dicen algo, me hago la sueca". Y así actué, pude notar las miradas de todos aquellos que no se atrevían a pasar clavadas en mi espalda, como si estuviese cometiendo una locura. Pero cuando vieron que nada me había pasado, que no me iban a llevar a la cárcel, empezaron a entrar. Es algo que seguramente no os interesa, pero me hizo tanta gracia ese momento que tenía que dejarlo por escrito. Un simple gesto, dar un paso y cruzar la entrada, eso fue todo lo que hice. Podía haberme conformado con verlo desde fuera, pero mi curiosidad me condujo a adentrarme, si alguna vez os veis en una situación así ¿por qué no os arriesgáis? Os aseguro que no os van a meter en Chirona por ello. Y además, aprenderéis más de este mundo.

Instead of going straight to the palace, turn right. The first thing that you will see is a little and adorable house. A lot of people were standing in front of the fence and were looking at it from there. I thought "The door is opened, there is no DON'T PASS signal, I am going to go and if someone tells me something, I will act like I don't understand it". So I did it, I could feel the eyes of the people stuck on my back, like I was insane or soemthing. But when they saw that there was no danger, that I wasn't going to go to jail, they started to walk in too. I am sure you don't care about that, but it was really funny for me and I needed to write it down. One simple step, that was all I did. I could have seen it in front of the fence, yes. But my curiosity made me go. If you ever feel like that, just think "... Why not?" I am sure that anyone is going to send you to Guantánamo. And you will learn about the world.

Covent Garden wants to surprise you

Como prometí, voy a llenar este blog con fotos y todo lo que se me ocurra de Londres o Inglaterra desde mi perspectiva, para que no quede como lo típico que uno ve cuando busca en google "London". El otro día fue Regents Park y la respuesta positiva me animó a hacer muchos más. Si fuese por mí estaría todo el día haciendo fotos a parques, que además de haber por tooodas partes me encantan. Por eso hoy he escogido Covent Garden.

Lo primero que debéis saber es que C.G. se trata de un barrio bastante céntrico, con un paseo muy agradable llegas desde Trafalgar Square. Sin duda el reconocimiento de este barrio se debe a la Royal Opera House, hace algo más de un año tuve la suerte de acudir a un ballet y una ópera ahí, así que si quieres disfrutar de una obra de calidad a un precio bastante asequible, no dudes ni un segundo en ir. Si fuese por mí, os obligaría a todos los que estén leyendo esto a ir. De verdad, ya seas un amante de las artes o no, merece la pena.

Además, siendo que es el Teatro Real verás a la clase más alta de Londres, el príncipe Harry y yo iremos algún día juntos, así que quién sabe, quizás coincidimos contigo ;)

I am going to full up this blog with things of London o England that are not that popular or you won't find it if you google "London". Last day it was Regents Park and the comments cheered me up to keep doing posts like that. I absolutely love the parks and gardens, but I will try to show you different places.

The first that you need to know about Covent Garden is that is a distric in central London. It's really popular because of The Royal Opera Theatre. One year ago I went to a ballet and a opera show, and if you want to enjoy a really good spectacle with a cheap price, do not think it twice. If I could I would make all of you go mandatorily.

And, since it's is the Royal Theatre, you will find there the elite of London. Prince Harry and I will go together someday, who knows, maybe we will see you ;)

Pero Covent Garden no sólo tiene un magnífico escenario, sino que al ladito encuentras con un gran mercado de lo más curioso y simpático. Ahí verás espectáculos callejeros bastante buenos (cantantes de ópera, actores, monologuistas...) y completamente gratis (aunque una propina tras un buen show nunca está de más)

But Covent Garden it not just a stage, around the corner there is a big and cute market. You will see free shows pretty good (opera singers, performers...) but don't forget that a little tip is always welcome.

Puedes encontrar productos de todo tipo, desde fruta, jabones, cuadros o maquillaje de Chanel. Awwww, that's life.

You can find there everthing, fruit, soaps, paints or Chanel makeup.

Pero sin duda mi rincón favorito será Laduree, no negaré que si pretendes realizar una visita económica quizás este sitio se va de precio, pero probar sus famosos macarons en una maravillosa terraza siempre puede ser un capricho muy bienvenido.
But with out any doubt, my favorite site is Laduree. Yes, maybe is expensive if you don't want to waste your money, but you need to try one of their macarons.

En definitiva, si queréis sorpresas en un sitio muy acogedor, el mercado de Covent Garden es vuestro sitio.

Por experiencia os digo que puede pasar de todo, desde formar parte de un espectáculo hasta que un francés se te acerque mientras ves un show y salten algunas chispas. Si vas sola, como yo, te sentirás constantemente acompañada por turistas, colores, tenderos, música y olores (y franceses)

To sum up,. if you want to go to a cozy place, Covent Garden market is your place. Where anything could happen, you can be a parto of a show o meet a french boy while you are watching one of them. If you go alone, like I did, you will feel everytime in company with tousist, shopkeepers, music and perfumes (and french boys)

Pero no sólo el mercado es un "must see", pasear por la zona en general es un "MUST DO" ya que de nuevo, descubrirás zonas no tan populares y preciosas, en mi último paseo descubrí este restaurante y espero que Harry me lleve algún día ahí, me encanta.

The market is a "must see" but walking around is a "MUST DO" and you will discover places not that popular and beautiful. The last time I found this restaurante. I hope that Harry will invite me to go there someday, I won't say no.
